Why should you comment on blogs?

by Sushant Risodkar on January 3, 2009 · 37 comments

Commenting on other blogs is a very good thing to get readers no matter the blog is a dofollow or nofollow. You should comment on other blogs of your choice regularly. If you are still not convinced about this, here are some top reasons that tells why you should keep commenting on other blogs:

1. If you keep commenting on other blog with your identity, the owner plus other readers will also start knowing/recognising you.
For example, let’s take my blog, I have a reader named “Krisditya”; he comments regulary on my blog on various articles which shows his true readership qualities. You need to leave comment as this is the best and the only way the blog owner can analyze your goals without any sort of direct or indirect communication.

2. Many blogs, these days let you leave a link of your website while writing comments for the blog so while commenting, if you leave a link to your blog, then the chances are you will receive traffic from their if you made any outstanding comment. Thus it will help you in gaining inbound links and traffic also increase in readership.

3. Luck, could be a major factor while commenting. Since when you comment you don’t know that who is reading that thing and it could be possible that some biggies from the industry is reading it and could be amazed by your opinion and might help you in someway :) .

Other than that, I advise to comment on new blogs as much as possible since if you are commenting in a crowded blog like Shoemoney, then chances are less that it could be read by everybody.

So keep commenting and add value to the discussion as it includes lots of fun. Now tell me will you/have you start/started commenting on blogs? :)

I always try to leave meaningful comments on blogs I like and those I read on a regular basis. The threaded comments feature on WP 2.7 is cool and a help in keeping a discussion going.

Comments are very common these days, but you also have to control the spam. Yes meaningful and related comments drive traffic too.

Yes. And just to add, good comment giving advantage, but bad comment giving disadvantage. If you do spam, maybe what happen for you is the opposite of the list above.

One more thing is if u don’t comment as a real person thinks, but only for the sake of getting back links then I am sure, your blog will face the same.

senthil is absolutely right… every comment should have a value. just commenting as “nice post,”thanks good article” will not be effective.we should not comment for name sake.Commenting should encourage the blog author.

Well it’s not a big problem if only the comment is very useful. The captchas should be simple just like math.

No Bro. I hate it. Sometimes many of the captchas are un readable. That makes me sick of it. I use really simple captcha which is easy to read as well as good at fighting spam.

And also with spammer :P . Well, some blogger say that spam is the reason of using chaptcha image, but their forget about normal reader comfortability.

Captcha is OK since it’s not too hard, just like : Sun is hot or cool?

Yes there are simple captchas. But having same question all the time is danger one. As spammers are aware about the answer and there are people who can code the spams to answer it.

Ha ha then those blogs will be full of Spams unless they use some plugins to fight it. Captchas are must for some high traffic blogs.

Too bad there is no routin commentator in my blog yet. Maybe the problem is my content not interesting enough? Anyway, senthil, your experience is nice, from blogger-commentator relation and then become friend.

Commenting is a much underated way of spreading awareness of your blog and brand, and even building backlinks.

Nice point about top bloggers noticing your comments – it’s worth putting some effort in and contributing something of value to the conversation.

Depending on which blogs you comment on, you can also generate some traffic. CommentLuv helps with that too of course :)

Thanks Sushant, nice work mate
