make money online

Nowadays, a lot of Web users(webmasters) are in a rush to get some .edu backlinks. Now you might be thinking, why are they in a rush to acquire these .edu backlinks ?

This is because websites ending in .edu are considered trusted sites by Search Engines specially Google, they are generally credible, and most webmasters think that a link from an .edu page with any PageRank is more valuable than a link from another page with the same PageRank.

Today, it is generally accepted that .edu backlinks carry a larger weight for search engine algorithms. Despite the fact that search engine giant Google has never admitted it, most SEO and online marketing analysts confirm that .edu  outperform other extensions in terms of search ranking and leverage.

How Would I Be Able To Get A .edu Backlink?

The first step in acquiring a .edu backlink that points to your website, is to locate websites related to your topic ending with those extensions. One way would be to use the Google and Search as:  site:.edu combined with the keywords of your blog.

For example; site:.edu “Make Money Online

This should make you to search an extensive list of such .EDU sites. Once you have a list of sites, try exploring through them and select the ones you think would have a higher probability of sharing some external links with your blog.

Once you’re in, do your best to participate in the forums and discussions if they have. And it’s important for you that you don’t SPAM, since this would be highly unethical. Then after, you may leave your link there.

If you are a lazy guy and don’t wish to do all this searching then I have a gr8 news for you. I have collected a list of  almost 200+ .EDU forums which you can have a look and try exploring them for your benefits.

The “.edu” links are probably the most difficult to obtain. My daughter is attending a University of California, and I’ve been begging her to start a club or join an existing club and then make a few blog posts at the club’s web site, with my web site in the siggy, of course! ;)

Wow, you have just opened my eyes. I did not know about the .edu backlinking websites. I think it might be hard for me to get backlinks for my site as it is more personal than a specific niche.

Thanks for this info, I guess I will have to do some homework on this.

.edu has lots of importance..many people buy those links on forums like digitalpoint…

Nice thinking, typhoon. But anyone who generates a lot of edu links altogether might get his site banned from Google.

Links from edu sites ares not only good for page rank but also for SEO, only if they come over time. Tens of such (artificial edu) links within a short time span can be dangerous.

That could be a bad thing to hear so we must be aware of what we do and maintain the consistency. Right?

Google hate people who get crazy on collecting link, an it’s also with link from .edu site. So, make sure, even you have 200+ list of .edu site, don’t collecting link from it like crazy (f.e posting 150 times per day). If you not follow this advice, be prepared to enter sandbox.

Senthil Ramesh December 26, 2009 at 1:09 pm

To enter sandbox? What does this mean?

I think it’s not permanent banned but jumped into sandbox list. If your site jumped into it, your site will not listed on the SERP for a while.

But i’m sure there is some change on search engine policy since there is already too many .edu site. It’s happen on all things which become popular. I’m sure, in the past, .com is the most se friendly, but it’s getting popular day by day and it value is start to decreased.

I’m hope an update for this matter.

I wonder why search engine have different treatment for different extension. Oh, .org is also great? Is it better than .edu?

Anyway, of course, mostly .edu is stand for education site. It’s strange for making money online or health blog with .edu as it extension.

This article is created 9 month ago, so please be understand if some link is no longer active. Well, what i can advice is, don’t collecting too much link from .edu site on short time. Google will treat it as link farming, even if you make normal comment. I’m already many times said about sandbox. You can learn by googling it.
The question for this time is : Is .edu site link still worth?

Reply

Typhoon December 15, 2009 at 7:13 pm

Yes it is. If you create a thread on DigitalPoint stating that you want to sell .edu blog list. You will get lots of people purchasing it.

Reply

I have already collect some good .edu site after lots of hard research, as you say by searching on google using the search operator site:.edu “make money online”, you can not get the specific .edu site. On the search results you do not get any site that relevant to make money online, the results are displayed if someone already made comment on that blog by using keyword “make money online”, I even use the search operator “keyword site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -”you must be logged in”, for filtering the search, but even not get good .edu site that is out of spam.

Typhoon thanks for a great resource these edu sites could be a great tool for building juicy backlinks as long as they are used wisely, by that I mean, don’t try to build your backlinks too quickly as google will surely notice and penalise you for it. The rule is, use the links over a period of time so as to look more natural.

I agree that .edu back links carry a lot of weight with the Google search engines. However, I find getting them to be slow and tedious..
