Great information you have here. I obviously agree that simplicity ALWAYS goes a long way. When a site or a blog is overdone or has way too much going on, it tends to deter me from staying there too long. I also think that the number of articles you post is pretty individualized. There are some niches that will definitely call for a larger number of posts. I think as blog owners we have to react to our audience and our readers. Dependent on their reactions we determine how often we should post… At least that is what I believe.

As long as you publish something useful to your audience, it doesn’t matter how many guest posters or contests you have. Also, not encouraging guest posting and not having contests on your blog is definetly the blog killer.

I am guilty of not updating as much as I need to but what can I say, I am a busy mom. This is the reason I am looking for guest posters though to post a least once a week. This way I am not neglecting my audience and still providing them with good content. And you definitely have to respect your audience. Design, well too much things going on can distract a reader and too many widgets can slow a blog or site down, so I have to agree slightly with this and also bright fonts and such.

hey real good stuff … u r very right even i strongly agree on point 3 abt keep on updating .. & abt pt 2 i think i should learn & try 2 avoid the temptation to experiment with various widgets & scripts … but i think its common & natural to happen to anyone who has just entered in the world of blogging as u r new & u like to learn & implement so people will try & keep on experimenting new things on their sites to suit their style HOWEVER only those who r enough determined & motivated to carry on will continue to keep on blogging & gain experience WHAT SAY ? thats what SIMON SAYZZZ… he he he Merry Christmas & Happy new year…..

Ya color of the theme attract the readers.. But if there are much advertisements with graphic design it will distracts the readers. If we have many advertisements in blog it take time for loading… So we can avoid these small steps and make site effective and attractive.
