Make Money with Your Email List

Email is regarded as a personal thing. People tend not to share their emails with other people because the email is addressed to them, and not to other people. Since emails are considered as a private stuff, email marketing would have a higher conversion than any type of marketing.

In email marketing, the marketer should not look for emails. Instead, the owners of the email address have to voluntary submit or give you their email address. They submitted their email address because they wanted to know more or be kept updated about some thing.

For instance, if you wrote an article that contains information about people trying to stop sleeping with a teddy bear at age 50 (I just made up a problem, might look funny) and if someone that needs help with the sleeping problem sees the article, the person would likely subscribe by email to your blog in case you recommend a product. If you recommend any product to them by email, there is a high possibility that the person would buy the product because the person needs help.

Remember, the article you wrote has no solution, it just contained information about people trying to stop sleeping with teddy bear. One thing you should not do is recommending products that people have claimed to be scammed or worthless because this would make you to lose your credibility. Only recommend products that have good reviews and does what it is made for.

If you want to capture email addresses on your site, you put an email registration box, so that people can subscribe to your site by email. Make the box to be visible i.e. put the box at the top of the site, so that people can easily see it and register.

I have seen some sites that have used pop-ups to tell you to register to the newsletter. This is also an efficient way, but if the visitor has a pop up blocker, the blocker would block the newsletter from popping up. You can also include action comments plugin. With the help of this plugin you can make your commenter’s subscribe to your newsletter automatically whenever they comment, if you want, by placing a tick box message below comment box.

Ohh Thanks for letting me know. I think the problem was the codes which I used for showing my newsletter subscription box wasn’t favorable to my blog theme so I removed that thing and will be adding a flash subscription box.

I just started my own conglomerate news blog – http://www.Regurge.net – and we are having trouble getting off the ground in terms of generating hits and revenue. This article was really interesting, but I don’t think it will be very useful for most people out there. Maybe I’m wrong though.

Having a Feedburner, especially when it is free, is a must. Not onyl do they provide a newsletter service, it gives you RSS as well, and it is free to incorporate in any website or blog.

Good points Typhoon! I am glad you pointed out that you want to make sure you only promote products that have a good reputation, and it is really helpful if you have used it yourself. Of course in your over 50 teddy bear product, that might be hard of course :) Definitely promoting scammy products can ruin your reputation fast!

I like how this post took the approach of people volunteering their names to your list, but that’s really what it boils down to. Your targeted audience has to want to input their details. What I’ve found that has helped with list-building is having a free gift available for download like a free report, free ebook, video tutorial or some sort of free tool the reader can use that’s useful for them.

List building and using your list wisely is what everyone recommends, and for good reason. I will say that I personally agree that you shouldn’t slam a list too hard and too often, especially with products you KNOW to be questionable at best. However, there is another take on using a list and that is if they are on your list they are there for a reason. If they don’t want to buy from you then they will unsubscribe. I guess this would work fine if people joined you list knowing in advance that they will be sent promotional material, but I still think that you should treat an email list like you do a normal person. Respect their wishes and don’t try to force anything down their throat. You’ll retain loyal subscribers and they’ll be more often to purchase again from you because they know you only recommend quality products or services.
