5 Tips to Create Killer Articles for your Blog

This is a Guest Post by Vishal Sanjay of DumbLittleBlogger.

If your blog gives good useful and unique content, you don’t need a good design and you don’t need to promote it yourself, your blogs users spread your words and get more popularity for your blog. If you have good content then every user will get 3 other users. In this way you don’t spend a cent and the entire traffic is in your hands; but in order to create such an echoing traffic you’ll need to shout out well enough. This you can do with your blogs content.

Below are some tips to create useful content:

Finding a question

First thing I do before writing an article is, I search forums, answer sites and comments on other blogs. I do this to find out what are web users in my niche looking for, if they don’t find whatever they are looking for I am sure they would post it on forums and on other sites. If you go through them I am sure you’ll get an idea for a killer article that would get you some bookmarks. If your site gets good traffic then you can set up a contact form for users to ask questions. After writing the article make sure you reply to them with a link to your article.

Blogs in your niche

After finding a topic to write about, search other sites in your niche and find articles related to your topic. If you are copying a large part of the article from their blog, make sure you give a link to them and also use quotes on the part which you copied. Whenever I sit down to write an article I refer to few other sites, some books and some friends I know on Facebook and Twitter.

Your own experiments

If you write articles merging different articles from 6 sites, you are likely to get any bookmarks. So, you will have to write down your own discoveries to create killer articles. Once many of my users had asked questions about using StumbleUpon for traffic, to answer this I first created an account on StumbleUpon and started experimenting with it and after 1 month when I had learned every single way to use StumbleUpon for blog traffic I wrote a post. Of course, writing a killer article takes a lot of time and patience, but once you get good traffic one killer article in a month will be enough.

Get articles from directories

There are many article directories which give away articles for free, these articles are written by other bloggers. Publishing these articles on your site is free, but you are supposed to post the article as it is and most of them have links to the authors website. If your users see these links they may not leave any bookmarks. This method is not very much appreciated by me and I still prefer sitting with my PC with a cup of tea and writing my own articles.

Hire a ghost writer

If you don’t have the skills and the time to write good articles then you can outsource it to some freelancers, of course you’ll have to pay them, an average graded ghost writer demands $10 per article. If you have the cash resources you can easily opt to this, but if you don’t you are on your own. You can find freelance ghost writers on many freelance sites which you can know more about in the article Make Money Online Bidding on projects at Freelance Marketplaces!

I hope you will find this article useful for your Article Writing to promote your blog. If you try some other ways to Write Killer Articles then I am waiting to hear from you.

I don’t think hiring the ghost writer is a good idea. If you do so your writing skill won’t improve ever. Practice makes man perfect.

As Lee Ka Hoong said, you should think of hiring a Ghost Writer if you think you won’t be able to update your blog for few weeks or so and you really don’t want to go your blog dead for those few days. Also you can invite bloggers to Guest Post on your blog if don’t want to buy any article from any Ghost writer.. That would be a great thing then.

That is my fault. I didn’t get it properly. Yes, if you are busy or if you don’t have enough time then hiring ghost writer is a good (and costly) idea. Rted your topic ;)

Hiring ghost writer should be costly but sometimes we need to outsource it if we have less time online or run out of ideas. I’ve the same thought before and wanted to look for a ghost writer, but ended up I stopped it because I prefer to write it myself, at least for now. Anyway, nice post dude! :)

Great post Vishal. Yeah, finding what’s in demand is a must. knowing the needs and wants of people is really important. If we managed to do that one. Then we get high chance of getting visible. Its like SEO. Giving results that people wants.

Experimentation also is really important. This is what I’ve learned from Yaro Starak.
Things happen differently which is why it is wise to try every options possible. Specially if it will only give potential results and no downside. The more options you try, the more outcome awaits you. since things happen differently, its good to try a particular method first before judging whether its going to work or not. Don’t be a judgmental. Try it first and see.

My blog – http://homeaffiliate.typepad.com is even a proof of how experimentation works. From all the methods i’ve tried and all the efforts applied. I was able to build my readership. I got 309 readers now within 3 months of blogging and have an alexa traffic rank of 355,683. And I’m so happy with the result. Doing every options possible and eliminating laziness is my motto.

As to getting free articles from article directories. I know of one good article directory site where in you can request for an article for free or become a guest author. the site is http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/ its a good and recommended site.

Well, Thanks Vishal! These tips will surely help us create a killer article now and tomorrow. Good luck and more power to you

Thanks for these tips, though my blog is not about blogging, but still I read different blogs, like this one, to know about tips like these.

I don’t agree that we should hire ghost writes. If one is not interested in blogging, he should quit the blogging.

Useful post, the idea of hiring a ghost writer could be very costly however, there is no absolute guarantee that the person will write well even that this person will write better than you but a good ghostwriter will save you alot time, and time is money.

Hello my friend.

You got a good tips to be followed. But I have comments on the first paragraph on your article.

You are right that your blog users will spread the words for you. But how users got into your blog if no one knew it that was there? I think you still do promotion on the content article you have created.

After you generate users that’s the time that the users would try to spread what is in your blog, if they find your content is worthy enough to others.

Thank you for this guest post my friend. I learned something from you today. I am hoping for your future guest post. Or maybe I would visit your blog.

I think I saw your name already. Did you do guest posting on problogger.net?

I hope we could be good friends…

Vishal, you did this well.

I think it will also be good for every blogger to write killer articles one in a week.

The idea of hiring a ghost writer is cool but it will better if bloggers result to having guest posts. Create a way on your blog where you can seek for guest post and also make the post available for your readers.

I totally agree with you John. Experimentation’s rocks!

Its like getting out of the box. Hiring a ghost writer is good especially if you have a solid reason why you should hire one. However, finding a good ghost writer is not easy. That is why i prefer guest post from my blogger friends. Not only that you won’t spend any dime. You’re also assured that you’ll receive a good article to be publish on your blog.:) plus. You are also helping your blogger friend in a way. Since guest posting is a win win situation.

By the way. I am looking for a guest writer on my blog – http://homeaffiliate.typepad.com
coz i won’t be able to write for awhile because i have a big problem. I’m sorry for telling this but i believe i can be open to you guys. Anyway. To those who are interested. You can email me and I’ll tell you my problem. Its kinda personal and i think its not appropriate if ill share it here. To those who wants to help me by guest posting on my blog. I would highly appreciate it and be very thankful.

Hi Vishal

Thanks for sharing with us your thoughts.

My view in getting articles from Article Directories is solely for the benefits of my reader. If the article is good and will benefit my readers, I will still post it.

Am not too concern in getting the post bookmarked.

End of the day, my prefered mode is to write my own article.

Really nice tips on how to get ideas for writing articles. But to pen it down one has to have these 5 things :

1) Pen down the ideas in points
2) Create a storyline for the article, so that it has an interesting beginning, informative content and concluding end.
3) Use simple sentence structure
4) Use proper punctuation
5) Last but most important; give you article a CATCHY title.

If you are going to use a ghost writer, I suggest preparing notes and thoughts in bullet form, or at least having some discussions with the writer so he or she gets a feel for how you communicate. Regardless of the length of the articles, you should be careful about the voice and whether or not it captures your personality and/or the correct tone for the site. I’ve been ghost writing for the past year (for a book), and it’s hard not to let your own editorial mannerisms creep in. I insist on regular verbal conversations, at least every other week, to keep me writing in tune with the named author.

Your article is good. But I definitely don’t agree with your statement below.

“If your blog gives good useful and unique content, you don’t need a good design and you don’t need to promote it yourself, your blogs users spread your words and get more popularity for your blog. ”

Even if your write good article. You need to promote it. Be it using blog commenting, social bookmarking, or many others. The possibility of people tweeting or digging your article is probably 1 out of 50 or 100 (0.5-1%). So, except you’re as big as ProBlogger, John Chow, Shoe Money or other top bloggers that have thousands daily visitors, you need to promote your articles.
