7+ Facebook Applications You Must Use
This is a guest post by Adesoji Adegbulu of AdesojiAdegbulu.com
It is no news that Facebook is for too Social Media addicts like me. If you are not on Facebook, your online business still has a long way to get into people’s mind. One of the best way to make money online is to be a smart blogger and a web savvy.
Being a smart blogger and a web savvy involves social networking. Your network determines your net-worth. It is through a social networking site, like Facebook, that you get to learn some very vital stuffs you need.
Facebook is huge and it is taking the world by storm already. Funny enough, you can get lost in it if you are not too careful. I am almost got lost too when I was making the necessary research before I did this post.
You can find a lot of Facebook Applications to use. For brevity sake, I will be telling you 7+ Facebook Applications You Must Use. I will list the ones I know and you will help me, yourself and other readers by listing the ones you know. That is why the “+” is part of the title of this post.
1. Facebook Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace lets you sell, give away, buy, ask, or search for anything you want. You can also support charities by selling for a cause. Marketplace makes it easy to see what your friends have posted and what is available in your area.
It has the following categories you can make use of:
- Items for Sale
- Housing
- Vehicles
- Jobs
2. Social RSS
Social RSS (formerly known as RSS-Connect) promotes your blog and/or business within Facebook using RSS Feeds. It supports all major versions of RSS and ATOM.
Social RSS has the following features you can use:
- Add your blog or any RSS feeds to your wall/boxes tab or create a new RSS/Blog tab dedicated to your feeds.
- Add RSS feeds to your Facebook Fan/Business Pages.
- Feeds update automatically. (Please note that due to the large number of RSS feeds, it cannot guarantee a refreshing rate with their free service. If your Page requires a more rapid refreshing rate, please consider their subscription service at $2/month. (Please email socialrss (at) hotmail.com for details)
- Your latest article will be automatically posted to your wall, and to your fans home pages selectively by Facebook.
- It helps businesses to promote their brand further. This includes the development of branded apps and bespoke Fan/Business Pages to your specific requirements.
3. Professional Profile: Business Networking
This application allows you to:
- Control Your Professional Identity
- Separate professional information to a separate tab on your profile.
- Tag Contacts
- Use tags to organize your contacts and browse your network.
- View Companies You Know
- Quickly browse companies that you have access to based on your contacts facebook information.
4. Memorable Web Addresses for Profile, Page and Group
This application allows you to create a short, easy to remember personalized web address for your Facebook profile, group or page. You can share the link with other people, post it on forums, show it on your myspace page or print it on your business cards.
This application shortens long web addresses on Facebook to something like this:
Profile: http://profile.to/AnyNameYouChoose/ OR www.profile.to/AnyNameYouChoose
Group: http://groups.to/GroupName
For Pages: have a choice of domain names such as companies.to, band.to, politician.to, facebook.dj, or artist.to
5. Profile Box
This application allows you to place anything you want in a profile box. Make a miniature web page, show your latest blog entry, even embed your favorite YouTube video, embed a free e-book and other stuffs for your friends to make use of. Anyone can use it, but if you want things to look really snazzy you’ll need to know how to use HTML.
6. Twitter
This application integrates Twitter with Facebook. It allows you to update your twitter status without leaving Facebook. You can also see the tweets from the people you follow by using this application. With this application, you see what you and your friends are up to on Twitter and update your Twitter status, right from Facebook!
7. Selective Twitter Status
This is one of the cool applications I have seen on Facebook lately. For as many of us that use the No. 6 application, we get to annoy our Facebook friends who are not on twitter. Sometimes they see status updates which they do not understand. If you have had complaints from your Facebook friends or you do not want them to complain, you need to use this application. This application allows you to choose when to update your Facebook status from Twitter by ending your tweet with #fb
These are the 7 Facebook Applications I advise you to use. Now over to you. Is there any other cool Facebook Application you know that needs to be mentioned here?
You are free to add to the above list. Together we achieve more on Facebook. Stay tuned to smartbloggerz.com as we give you more tips to make your adventure on Facebook a wonderful experience.
Stay S.M.A.R.T as a blogger and as a Social Media User!

Indeed very great apps. Well so far. i have only used one application out of the 7 you’ve mentioned which is the social RSS. Lucky for me because the blogging platform i use automatically do all the work for me whenever i publish a post. Like, my post gets automatically posted on my wall. So I don’t really have to worry about having great apps. But of course, i consider the plus factor. My motto in blogging is to do all options available. But of course excluding the dirty ones.
Thanks for this one Free blogger. You’ve made me even more free by having less work with the use of these 7 great apps. Great job!

I like Social RSS too. It makes blogging kind of automatic. Blogging alone is not self sufficient. You need to market your blog from a business perspective. That is why other apps mentioned above are relevant.

“Selective Twitter Status” – that’s pretty cool, I had no idea that even existed, so now you don’t have to use an app that will allow you to update both twitter and the same time, just end the tweet with #fb.
Thanks for the tip.

Interesting to see FB starting to move into an area where it can compete with Craigslist for some the local sales of merchandise. I think it is a wise move and could provide some revenue for them in the short term.

Hi, my friend, this is my first time visiting your blog, I really appreciate it very much.
I emailed you for link exchanging, I hope you recieved it. I am a professional blogger, just like you, but my blog is quite new, because it is my second blog, I just built it in July.
By the way, I clicked on your blogroll, some are already dead, I hope you will notice that, because it is very bad to SEO

Okay, is it a marketing thing. I still can’t get to using the facebook thing and I don’t have a desire to. I hear a lot of people talking about using Facebook, but I guess with all the other stuff out there to generate leads, I’m not in the quickest rush to use it. I can’t see using it on a personal level, and I think it’s a waste of time to sit up there and say you’re going to the bathroom, or going to the store and all that other stuff….it’s just me, sorry
