Motivation is one of the biggest factors for a blogger. With initial hiccups, many bloggers tend to back off from blogging and this way a good blogger says good bye to the blogosphere.

This is an obvious thing because blogging needs lot of patience from your side in the initial days and those who do not have a passion can easily succumb to the pressure.

But the point here is how you can keep yourself motivated in this cut throat competition.

blogging tips for motivating

Every day a new blog is created that promises to be better than the existing ones. Every month, you read the income report of a successful blogger and feels that you have not earned a single dollar. You see your competitor’s traffic increasing exponentially. So, how do you motivate yourself with no one around to say few sweet words? Try the following methods:

Tell Your Family About Your Goals

Family can be the biggest motivator if you tell them exactly what you are doing. Tell your parents, brother, sister, anyone so that he or she can keep you motivated about your goals and objectives.

Visit Other Blogs

I personally use this tactic to motivate myself. Reading other blogs and the success stories of bloggers around the world is the biggest source of inspiration for me. This is one reason first thing I read on a blog is it’s about page. I want to know what this blogger do and if he can, then why cannot I?

Positive Results

This is the most effective motivation factor for those who are having a good successful blog. These results can be good traffic, some encouraging comments and good money. Among these three, the best is the money you can get from blogging. But even if you are not getting money, seek inspiration from the comments and the traffic of your blog.

A Desire To Do Something Different

This is much related to my case. No one in my family and friend circle has ever started a blog and does not even know that blogging can get me good money and popularity. If I start getting something out of my blog, this will surely be helping my cause.

Change Your Outlook

All the above mentioned things will work only if you change your outlook. Open your minds and start taking things differently. In this regard, you can read my post on HIGH VISITS is not equal to HIGH POPULARITY. Here I have explained how bounce rate can be a good reason for motivation. Start finding excitement in little things, in comments and in traffic and you will be a good blogger.

I have always found myself easy to motivate in spite of no help from my friends and families. What is your style of motivating yourself ? Do you find yourself hard to motivate.

Also, I think having a system in place helps. In other words, setting aside a certain time each day to perform certain blogging tasks ensures nothing falls through the cracks. Nice advice today Tushar! :)

I struggle to stay motivated to keep my blog up to date. Everytime I think, ” I need to update my blog,” the thought comes to mind that I’d rather be living my life instead of wasting time blogging about my life or opinions. I have lots of friends and family that read my blog and encourage me to keep up on in, but even that doesn’t get me wanting to do it.

Nice article Tushar, I think telling your family is key. I have known several bloggers who have dropped out of the blogosphere because their family time was suffering from their blogging obsession. You have to set realistic goals and limits on how much time you will spend blogging (assuming you have a day job) and blogging will cut into your family time hours. This is especially true to get family support if you run a personal blog where you share information about yourself and potentially your family online.

One of the surest fire ways to receive results, comments and have people notice your work is to promote, comment and make yourself known to others. Don’t start off just promoting yourself, reach out to the blogging commmunity, do guest posts after being established and visit enough sites and leave enough comments to be “recognized”.

I think when you publicly announce that you’ll be doing something it really sets a fire under your butt to get going and start working.

You’re telling people you’ll be working on a project so of course there will be buzz but most importantly you’re setting your reputation on the line. If you don’t pull through, you just let people down.

This means you’re going to put everything you’ve got into it – it’s a great way to motivate yourself.

I agree to the point #2 as visiting other blogs really motivates me to do more effort. When i look at the blogs of successful bloggers and see that how much are they earning, then it really encourages me to work harder to get my share from the online blogging money.

For me, I motivate myself in blogging by knowing the successful results in the future. Even though I encountered failures, I still keep on going and try to fixed those mistakes I’ve made.

The other thing is that, you will be motivated to do something if you are passionate on what you are doing.

Good, simple advice here. I think one of the easiest things to do is when you feel inspired to write a post, don’t stop at one. Write a whole bunch of posts and then drip feed them out of your blog – either post date them or copy and paste from a document every few days.

I have listen somewhere that successful blogger do not disclose their secret of success. I think it is somehow true because they might not like that other also become success, due to the lot of congestion in blogging.

I get blogging motivation myself, I just see what other blogger doing for success and try to implement those strategy for my blog.

Reading other peoples success stories is one that definitely motivates me and always encourages me to stick with it.

Also comparing traffic stats with previous months and brainstorming new ideas is another one that helps me keep motivation.

I’ve read most of the comments, and surprisingly it looks like I’m the odd man out this time.

I think of you surveyed a good amount of folks, #1 family would be a big fat NO, especially if they are from a completely different generation, like mine.

I’ve totally given up trying to explain things, and gratefully so. lol

My family is not a good motivator in blogging, well they motivate me in different things but not blogging. I agree with visiting other blogs because if they can do it, I can do it too (hope so!) I think that high visits is good even the bounce rate is high, those visitors can be converted into clicks when using adsense. Just be creative.

A lot of bloggers do feel demotivated from time to time. There are times that they do question themselves, their abilities, and what they’re doing. I would say going back to the basics can help. When things get rough and complex, people usually start to lose motivation. And going back to the basics and the fundamentals always seem to help many.
