This is a guest post by Anil Gupta from ScopeForMoney.com.
So you have a blog running successfully and getting decent amount of traffic on it. But the real problem that you are facing is you don’t know how to convert this traffic into business.
Now people have their own favorite money making methods as every monetization scheme will not work for you.
Among lots of monetization methods, there will be very few that will actually work for us. Lots of blogger use Google Adsense as the only monetization method. While others use Affiliate programs and some form of advertising with Google Adsense to multiply their earnings.

In this post, I’m going to discuss broadly top 10 ways you can implement to start making good revenue from your blog:
1. Pay Per Click (PPC) Programs
Easiest and most popular revenue option used by most content rich and blog websites is using pay per click programs where we work as a publisher with advertising networks and get paid some money for each click made on ads placed from that advertising network. Some of popular PPC advertising networks are Google Adsense, Yahoo Publisher Network, Bidvertiser and Adbrite.
2. In-Text link Advertising
This kind of advertising option work best with websites and blogs having few thousand unique visitors per day at least. Two popular networks who deal in in-text advertising are Kontera and Infolinks.
3. Affiliate Networks
If you have a website or blog around a particular niche or product, you can make good amount of money working as an affiliate. You need to find products related to your blog niche in order to start seeing some money into your affiliate account. Some of popular websites that offers affiliate facility are Amazon, Clickbank, CJ and LinkShare. Suppose you have a blog about camera reviews, adding some camera widgets or links with your affiliate id from Amazon can help you make some quick money with little effort. You can expect revenue of 5 to 15 percent from each sale for an Amazon product sold with your affiliate id.
4. Using BuySellAds Network
I came to know of this revenue stream recently and it has been doing wonders for me. BuysellAds is an advertising network for banner and textual link buying and selling. Again you need good amount of targeted traffic on your website or blog to see some banner ads sold in your BuySellAds publisher account. They make payments via Paypal and give you the facility to transfer funds into your Paypal account twice in a month. Advertisespace also works on the same line, so you can try this network as well for selling additional banner ads on your blog.
5. Paid Blogging Networks
Lots of small and even some popular blogs use paid blogging networks to make some instant cash into their Paypal account. Some of paid blogging options one can try are ReviewMe, SponsoredReviews, PayPerPost, BlogsVertise and Smorty. You can expect making from $5 to few hundreds dollar with these networks depending upon your blog popularity, blog network and buyers paying capacity.
6. Create Advertise Here Page
Why not create an Advertise Here page on your blog and show all advertising options there. And don’t forget to show this on prominent position on your blog. The best thing about making money with direct advertisement is that you will be directly dealing with advertisers, can negotiate advertising rates and all of earnings will be going into your pocket which was missed in case you find advertisers for your blog though some network like BuySellAds.
7. Text Link Selling Networks
Through you are taking the risk of receiving some form of penalty from Google if Google gets some clue about your involvement in some form of link buying or selling. But still lots of bloggers are using them and infect are able to make good amount of money through them. That’s why I added this to this list. Some of text link selling networks if you are interested in selling textual links on your blog are TLA, TNX.net, Textlinkbrokers and Linkadage.
8. CPM Networks
CPM refers to cost per miles or average cost per thousand impressions. With CMP networks, we get paid on the basis of impressions and not on the basis of actual clicks which was the case with PPC networks. CPM rates vary from few cents to $5 or even $10 depending upon your blog niche, ad format etc. Some of popular CPM network that one can try are Burst Media, Value Click and Tribal Fusion.
9. Sell Your Own Products And Services
You can think of promoting and even selling your own product if you have any through your blog. And if you are writing about a particular niche, you could start offering your services or consulting about problems related to that niche. Suppose, you are running a blog around internet marketing, you could easily promote your SEO, SEM, SMO, Affiliate marketing services through your blog if you have a popular blog.
10. Write Reviews And Updates About Products And Services
Last but not the least, you could write reviews and share updates about products and services related to your blog niche. And if any of these websites are offering affiliate facility, sign up to their affiliate program and when you write about such products or websites, don’t forget to include your affiliate link in your review.
Are you using any of these monetization methods on your blog or I missed a monetization method that you are running successfully on your blog, please share in the comments section below.

A nice read. I have a couple of questions. Hope you can clear those.
1) What is the difference between selling Textual ads through, say, TLA and in-text link ad from Infolinks ?
2) The various types of ad networks that you mentioned here, can they be used with each other ?like for e.g. can Burstmedia be used with Adsense ?
I am definitely going to follow these tips. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Anshul
1. Text link ads is a market place for selling targeted textual links for your website. People (Advertisers) use them for higher search engine rankings and page rank. And in return, they pay some fixed amount of money on monthly to the bloggers and website owners depending upon your website popularity, page rank, alexa rankings. Text links from TLA are placed in website or blog sidebar like normal links we place in our blogrolls.
And as far as contextual ads from networks like Kontera or Infolinks are concerned, they are used for driving targeted traffic to advertisers websites. Blogegrs use Java Script codes to activate these kind of ads. So no page rank or link fruits is passed. You can consider these networks as pay per click networks, where ads used to open as pop ups.
2. Google Adsense does not have an issue with any advertising network, by the time they looks different from Google Adsense Ads.

By far the best way to make money with your blog is to release your own products. As you build your subscribers up and up, you should also be always monitoring what they’re talking about and what’s rumbling around that needs to be answered.
Then BAM – you create something so remarkable and great, people feel compelled to purchase your item. From there, it’s a tight knit relationship as the information keeps flowing between blog and blog reader.

Dear Murlu: Thank you for your insightful comment ….I have been reading extensively to determine which way yields better return to effort and time. You confirmed my intuition. Thank you for the guidance. I might reach out to you in the future (sooner than later !)
I think offering blog services can be added to this list. All too often I see blog owners miss the opportunity to offer technical services, consulting, and other blogging advice at a fee to their visitors.

Nicely written. There are many ways to monetize a blog, as you have pointed out but i’ve always found it the hardest in comparison to non-blog websites. Between Kontara and infolinks, i would go with infolinks. I’m getting a .5 eCPM with them but it’s still better than the others out there.
For the selling ad space tip, i would definitely check out ProjectWonderful, it’s a new service that welcomes newer sites. BuySellAds is a more strict and only wants certain niche sites.

Very well said Anil.
This is indeed the easy but effective way to make money from your blog. Some of those I didn’t tried it yet but I will try some of your suggestions.
I also tried blog flipping and luckily, my blogspot blog was purchased by Goran the owner of InDigitalWorks.
Thanks for sharing it.

Right now my money making program is adsense. I have already earned two times from adsense. I have tried bidvertiser but the earning revenue is very low than adsense. After drive enough traffic on my blog I will try to make money by selling ads on my blog.
I will prefer Adsense and affiliate marketing as both pay you well.Buysell Ads is also a good choice if you have good traffic.

Definitely great tips. I steer away from the in-text links programs – I prefer to use my text links for either affiliate marketing products or other articles because I feel like people will be more likely to bypass links to other posts because they see a link and think it’s an ad automatically. Just my preference though.

The advertising page is an absolute MUST for ANYONE wanting to sell advertising in one for or another from their site; blog or static.
What you don’t want is all those fugly looking empty “advertise here” 125 blocks down your sidebar; a total turnoff to potential advertisers…yes I have them, but have been upfront on the fact that I am still building; I don’t sell advertising anyway. lol

An alternative resource is linknami.com where you can make money publishing static text links on websites and internal pages as well as contextual links within content like articles and blog posts on your website. You can also publish blog posts and sponsored articles on your blog.
getting to sell your own products gives the most earning ..i agree with murlu…
great post . I have a question for you . You mentioned about having “decent traffic ” . How many UVs or how many PVs per day ,do you think is a decent traffic?

For most of ad networks, you should have 200-500 unique visitors per day to earn some decent amount of money. If you look me, I’m able to make $200 to $300 selling ads with BuySellAds network only

I am looking for adsense alternative to make money with my blog. Thanks for your sharing! I would like to try the Kontera and AdvertiseSpace.
Hi Anil,
This is Jonathan from Kontera. Thanks for bringing up our network, and elaborating on what it is in your conversation with Anshul. When it comes to In-Text ad networks, Kontera has the most to offer and I’d like to share a little bit with your readers about what sets us apart.
First of all, everything begins with our Contextual Technology, an algorithm that unlike competing networks that can just can keywords, actually reads webpages for meaning, allowing us to display the most relevant and effective ads for your content. This leads to higher CTR and better CPC results, that only grow as our algorithm becomes more familiar with your website.
The next element is our exclusive ad inventory. These premium, often Rich-Media ad units come from such globally recognized brand names as Microsoft, L’Oreal, Dove, Sprint, Dominos Pizza, National Geographic and more; and offer the most value to both publishers and site visitors. They’re the most creative and eye catching, offer the best possible CPC, and are only available on the Kontera network. In comparison, competitors like Infolinks rely solely on generic ad feeds, and have no exclusive ad content.
For anyone interested in learning more about Kontera, we’re currently offering new publishers a 70% revenue share, which is the highest rate in the industry. We’re also offering a $50 bonus for any new publisher who gets at least 25,000 U.S. page views during their first 30 days on the network, and recently lowered our minimum payout threshold from $100 to $50, across all payout methods.
Thanks,
- Jonathan Cohen

This article and the comments have been a great resource for me as I try to expand beyond Google AdSense. Based on what I read, I’m going to try ReviewMe.com and ProjectWonderful (or maybe BuySellAds) as well as keeping my focus on increasing traffic.
Google Adsense is an amazing tool, a money maker. Thanks for the tips.
Google adsense works best for me. The intext ads are sometimes quite annoying to users, so I avoid them. Well, cool list.
