Make Money By Putting Your Personal Stamp On Products From China

Importing and reselling products from China is a lucrative entrepreneurial option that can have you making huge profits in no time.

Success, however, is by no means guaranteed, and making the right decisions makes all the difference. One way to increase your chance of business success is to ensure that you don’t buy products already branded with a company’s label. Usually, these products are counterfeit. Instead, buy unlabeled products and brand your own products that you import from China with your unique company design.

Buying No-Brand Goods

The first step when finding goods to brand is to find a manufacturer that offers products that are not separately affiliated with another brand. This can often be difficult because retail companies will commission Chinese manufacturers to create their product designs. For example, you won’t find a wholesaler for non-Apple affiliated Ipods, because Apple designed and patented the product.

The fact that companies commission Chinese manufacturers to build the goods they design also explains why importing brand-name merchandise from China will usually result in you receiving counterfeit merchandise. In owning the design and patent to their products, companies that commission Chinese manufacturers will reserve the exclusive retail right to the goods that are produced. Chinese manufacturers usually won’t be allowed to produce more of a product than is commissioned.

Products that aren’t affiliated with a big name company will usually be designed and manufactured in China for the explicit purpose of sale to those who will brand them separately. The designs for these products come from a variety of sources, ranging from independently contracted designers to the product manufacturers themselves.

A lot of the time, these products will be variations on products manufactured for other brands that don’t violate any patent laws. Brandless products are not too difficult to find using regular methods of locating companies for Chinese import. The better quality of no name product you obtain, the greater your business success will be.

Branding Your Own Products From China

After you obtain no-name products, the next step is to find a way to brand them with your unique symbol. First, you have to decide what your product brand will be. To make branding your own products from China successful, this symbol should be both homogeneous throughout your product line and professional looking. If the financial resources are available to you, hiring a graphic artist or designer to create your unique logo is the best option in finding a good logo.

Finding a company to put your brand on your product line is the last step to branding your own products from China. It is also the easiest step. Most major United States cities contain a multitude of logo businesses, all of which would be happy to be commissioned to brand your products. These types of businesses also exist in China, and they may save you money. However, this business will be much more difficult to communicate with. Also, Chinese branding companies carry a significantly higher risk of getting scammed.

Branding your own products from China is a good way to import products from China without commissioning Chinese manufacturers to build your product design. It also decreases the chances of getting scammed. By finding no-name products, creating a logo and finding a logo company, you’ll be well on your well to a successful importing business.

  1. Hi,

Great post. I had two questions:

How do we know whether or not the product is counterfeit or not? (“find a manufacturer that offers products that are not separately affiliated with another brand.”).

Secondly, regarding “Brandless products are not too difficult to find using regular methods of locating companies for Chinese import.”

How do we find the brand less products and also what are the regular methods of locating companies for Chinese import?

    Thanks,
    Nabeel

  2. “Finding a company to put your brand on your product line is the last step to branding your own products from China.”

Up until this point, the costs are low, but it’s when you involve someone stateside (assuming U.S.) is where the costs increase dramatically.

  3. Interesting topic – not really related to blogging, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! I often get approached by Chinese manufacturers of pet products asking me to market their stuff. It’s quite spammy, as they keep sending these requests and I’m pretty sure it’s automated. I don’t even bother replying.

  4. It is a really nice idea. Chinese products are cheaper and you can really sold them at greater price with your branding.

  5. I know that it is possible to find any type of products from China. You can order any product by giving the specifications or samples and you can sell them by using your own company name or brand.

  6. Wonderful post dude!! Keep it up, I know a lot of people who buy wholesale products in bulk and sell them on Ebay for huge profits and importing from countries like China can make you filthy rich and I’ve heard the margins go up to 300%.

But there are a few countries like India which charge heavy duty on imported goods, especially from China, but still it will be profitable, but this way I won’t be able to keep up with the competition on Ebay where many would provide the same products at a low cost, so the only I can do this is by smuggling the goods here 🙂

  7. The concept seems interesting, but in my opinion achieving quality results can prove to be a daunting task. Finding unlabeled products can take tons and tons of time and the whole thing is a bit risky. Despite of that if one succeeds, then he is sure to make some huge money.

    1. If you order something in a big amount, some manufactures willing to make the unlabeled one as your request. But of course, it’s better to start from the small amount.

  8. not only China, many are venturing onto countries such as indonesia, thailand, philippines, cambodia, india!
the fact that these countries in itself is still growing economically wise and labour is cheap and easy to find. Therefore, that explains why many goods from such countries are cheaper as compared to other parts of the world where they are much more sophisticated.
I personally believe that finding a ‘brandless’ merchandise or product isn’t too difficult. it is whether if you are able to find one that suits your preference or the type of character you ought to apply onto what you are about to brand.
Even branding needs ‘theme’ or a ‘niche’ i suppose.
It is what that sets you apart from the rest that has apparently work on what you are starting to do.
branding takes alot of effort as well as marketing strategies. you need to have a team and hopefully lots of $$$ to make it big and hype.
I have come to know some of the most recent brand here in my country Malaysia that work on such approach. All of a sudden their name were out on streets, on tv, over the internet , on the newspaper.shopping malls, their own personal theme song..
if you are up for the challenge, i suppose it is worth a shot. Who knows, you may be the next ‘coke’ or ‘mcd’ =P

    cheers

    1. It’s what i called as creative. And agree with Febap, i live in Indonesia and we can easily finding or even ordering brandless products here. But to keep attention is the brandless products quality. I found brandless products have no guarantee about its quality, so you need to check it by ownselves.

  9. Sites like Alibaba are really great with getting in contact with Chinese suppliers.

I like the idea of branding your own product – adds a lot of credibility and could carve out a little niche for yourself.

Although you do have to worry about some liability issues if they are knockoffs – could lead to big legal troubles.

  10. The Chinese are dominating the market by selling cheap products. Their finishing might lack. But their products are sold widely and fast.
    Thanks for the advice.
