One of the greatest things about successful bloggers is that they live by principles. They all have rules guiding their actions right from when they started blogging till now and that is why they remain successful.

Everything in life is guided by principles and the same applies to blogging. When trying to be a successful blogger, there are some musts that should be your guideline, you should observe them as much as you can and you will see greater results in a little period of time.

This post will be talking about 7 “musts” when trying to be a successful blogger.

1. Take Action

This cannot be overemphasized and if there is one thing I have come to discover about successful bloggers, it is that they always take action. Successful bloggers always make effective use of information and that is one major key to their success.

Taking action is very important to your success when blogging because you will only get results from what you do, not from what you read or what you say. Taking action is the first most important step to blogging success.

2. Research

One thing about successful bloggers is their reputation and they are ready to guide it with their life. Successful bloggers know that people take them for what they say and that people are ready to act based on what they read from them, successful bloggers also have a lot of enemies and they know that any single mistake should not be allowed and that is why they research anything they do effectively.

It is always important to research effectively when trying to be a successful blogger and not just do or write something on your blog because others are doing the same.

3. Persistency

I so much love children for this, and that is one reason why they always have anything they want.

It is very important to be persistent when trying to be a successful blogger because this has a long role to play in your success. The most important success you will achieve when blogging will not come your way easily, they will take your time and hard work and you must be ready to keep trying in order to get things done. One great trait of successful bloggers is they live by the powerful motto “Never Give Up!”. This is the key to success.

4. Patience

One great thing successful bloggers have is patience because if they were not patient they will not be where they are today.

You are blogging along with many bloggers and the competition looks huge, there is a lot to face here and there but the patient dog eats the fattest bone.

When trying to be a successful blogger, it is very important to be patient because most important things come in a long span of time and they don’t just come around so you have to play the time game and when you are done, everything will be like yesterday.

5. Professionalism

This is one thing successful bloggers excel at, you will be amazed at how simple and professional their blogs are.

Many new bloggers just go ahead to use any theme for their blogs, they also load their blogs with irritating and unnecessary ads which eventually ends up cluttering their blogs and brings about a worse user experience.

Being professional is a great ingredient of success because the more professional you are, the more people will associate with you.

6. Network

One thing about successful bloggers is that they have a league, they are connected to each other and they are always ready to help themselves. The power of two or more is more than that of one.

When trying to achieve success as a blogger it is very important to network with as many bloggers as possible because this makes it easier for you to achieve results quickly.

Another great benefit of networking is that it helps you expand your brand because fellow bloggers will most likely tell their readers about you if you have a good relationship with them.

7. Back-Up

Another great thing to consider when trying being a successful blogger is the importance of having a backup. You will notice most of the prominent bloggers of today have various backups, which includes (but is not limited to) their mailing list and RSS feed.

Your backup might be your feed subscription or your mailing list, this is as important as any aspect of your blog and it is very important not to take it with negligence.

  1. I agree with everything you said here. Each one or each trait is needed so as to reach goals or fulfill plans. If one is missing then things might get topsyturvy which is not good at all. I agree most specifically to #1. Take Action. This is what others really lack, they have the plan, they have the dream, but they fail to take action.

    So, stop talking, stop researching, stop testing, stop observing, stop assuming but start taking action.

      Every point is equally important and taking action is a must because if you don’t take action, you won’t get anywhere!

  2. I particularly like the point about Research.

    For me it’s crucial.
    If your blog is focused on research (obviously, there are times when research isn’t required, for example, if you’re trying to provoke ideas / conversation about a particular topic (which is a valid form of blogging as long as you don’t do it all the time ..).
    Research gives foundation to your content. You’re not just assuming or guessing.
    With research, you’re, also, able to develop ideas (the ideas don’t necessarily have to be correct – but at least you’ve based your ideas on research).
    I think it’s important, though, not to be a slave to research. Research can be useful. But imagination / creation thinking / gut-reactions (based on a subjective take on a particular subject) often works, too.

    But, yes, overall, i think research is a crucial approach to blogging in general.

      Researching is a must because people will take you for what you say, so, prove to them you’re right by researching effectively before writing anything!

  3. I think that successful bloggers are able to take action because they know what their goals are. When you understand where you want to go it is far easier to know discover what must be done to get there. You can automatically separate the things that will matter from the things that won’t matter. That allows you to stay focused and on track to getting the results you are after.

      Having goals is really very important because this will also propell you to take action, since you already know where you are going!

  6. I totally agree with all the 7 points but i personally feel 4 and 6 are really important. One cannot get a big blog the next day after starting it

  8. All points are very important to remember if you want to be a successful blogger. Persistence is the must quality because many bloggers give up in blogging because they lack this factor. Persistence,patience and passion are three must quality which every blogger should have.

  10. Being passionate of what you are doing is also a good trait to have to get where you want to be. A blogger should also be goal-oriented to have a sense of direction; you must know where you should be in a particular period of time.
