7 Important Steps for Perfect Blog Promotion

Right now if you surf the web you will find thousands of blogs dead and haven’t been updated from many months. According to Technorati, millions of blogs gets abandoned just after their launch that  means only few people visits them just because the blog owners don’t perform blog promotion properly.

Blog promotion is a very important thing that many blogs are failing to do, with the end results that no matter how good their blogs are, visitors are still very low and that makes them fail to generate a worthwhile income. If you do a good blog promotion, it will certainly boost your affiliate sales and achieve excellent multiple top rankings in the major search engines and directories for your blog.

First of all, you should start your blog promotion efforts by listing it at some of the most popular internet directories. Because they can send you substantial amount of traffic and could affect the ranking in various search engines. It is better to make sure that your blog is present in all of the major directories before doing anything else. Blog promotion should be the most important part of your blog marketing plan. It’s not sufficient just to design a beautiful blog, put in on the Web and start sharing content.

Promoting your blog has to be done frequently if you want to get a nonstop stream of traffic to it. If you don’t make traffic go to your blog, your blogging profits will be nothing.

Here are 7 Important Steps for Perfect Blog Promotion:


1. Create A Blog Marketing Plan-

While constructing your blog, create a plan on how you are going to promote it when it is ready to be read by web readers. While doing so, keep this tip in mind – “Try to pretend you’re a readers when you’re developing it”. It’s too effortless just to view your blog from your own point of view. You need to have a clear visualization for your  goals (short and long term) you wish to attain and the strategies of how you will be going to carry them out.

2. Define Your Goal -

A lot of newbie bloggers promote their blog without purpose in a field which is too large, for instance they may use bulk mailing as one of their promotion strategies. You may get some amount of traffic but the chances are you will not make any affiliate sales because of the wrong people you have targeted. Getting targeted users to your blog, will increase your money balance, because they will have more interest in your products than advertising to a general audience.

3. Try Different Advertising Strategies -

Trying out only one kind of promotion tactic is never advisable because you never know which one won’t work for you sometime. Using more ways of promoting like search engines, email, marketing, forums, writing articles etc, you will have a greater chance of having traffic on your blog.

4. Be Punctual in Blog Promotion -

For driving traffic constantly to your blog, you must promote it endlessly i.e. you should do it regularly. “Web Traffic is a kind of blood for your blog which needs to be continuous”. For example, you could always try to optimize your web pages for the search engines; resubmit them if needed or  visiting discussion forums daily will help to get steady flow of traffic to your blog.

5. Keep Checking the Money you Invested –

You should always keep the track records of how much money(if you have) you invested in your blog promotion plan and what earnings you received in return. This will be called Return on Investment(ROI). This will keep you away from wasting large amount of money thrown aimlessly into advertising if it is not working for you.

6. Analyze your Blog Traffic -

Many blog owners doesn’t have any means of tracking or analyzing their blog traffic. Mostly they think it is not so useful and a waste of time. But for them I want to say that by Analyzing your Blog Traffic you can identify what marketing strategies are doing well for your blog. Based on the data you could then modify some part of your blog promotion plan to improve your traffic. Your analysis may consist of what popular keywords your visitors are using to find your blog, which pages of your blog are the most visited and where your visitors are coming from. These are necessary information you should know, instead of blindly promoting your blog and hoping for the best.

7. Keep Testing and Tracking your Results -

While running an effective online blog marketing operation by advertising, you need to always test what works and what doesn’t. Tracking an answer to an ad may cause you to refine it until it generates a great return on the money you invested(described in pt.5). Once your results are all right, then you can roll out your ads on a bigger scale and invest large amount of money.

    very good article, I’m also make some experiment with social media network to gain traffic. I call it traffic hunting. I use facebook, twitter, digg, stumble and technorati..I will update my experiment in my blog post.

    I don’t have any better ideas that what you have stated. I don’t think you missed a single thing. I just need to do more of all of your suggestions. The only thing I have done that has brought a few results is the Blog Catalog. Anyway, great suggestions, going to start working on them now.

    Nice article, bro and i’m agree with all of the point listed. And just for info, there is alternative ways to promoet your blog, it’s using contest. By making a contest, people will come to your blog and give advantage such give link, comment, etc.
    This method of promotion still rare, but i know there is some blog using this method and did it. What is your opinion?
