The tip on where to find wordpress themes to sponsor was invaluable. I have used this automated back linking strategy myself on some of my sites. Except I created some cut and paste code that provided value to the publisher that includes backlinks back to my site.

Develop a mortage calculater with a small link inside of it with the keyword anchor you want, and give the calculator away to embed on mortgage brokerage sites, or for anyone that would have a need for a mortgage calculator on their site.
Pretty much every business, you can think of something that has value that you can give away with a backlink to your site. This is a tremendous shortcut into an otherwise very tedious task.
I was commenting on blogs with top commentators widget for several months and it helped me tremendously when i was starting. I dont use it that much anymore to make backlinks for my main blog but i still use it sometimes when i want to get backlinks for my new blogs.

Thank you for the article. Before reading it I was under impression that it is more useful in to comment one time on 100 different blogs. With top commentator explained I can see the benefit to comment on just a few blogs but more regularly.
