How Social Is Your Blog?

This is a guest post by Anil Gupta from ScopeForMoney.com.

These days a blog’s popularity is a lot like a person’s personal life. The more social you are the higher popularity your blog will gain. Blogging is no longer as easy simply putting up a post and switching off the computer “hoping” for a wave of traffic.

Visitors will only come and comment if they like your blog popularity. Every one likes being associated to popular people. Similarly, in the blogosphere all bloggers want to be associated and be linked from a popular blog that everyone knows about.

social blog

Here are some ways to know how social your blog is. Because the popularity of you blog will depend on it…

How Many Top Commenters Lists Are You On?

Whether you comment on other blogs out of interest or because you want the dofollow link juice, whatever may be the reason, try to get on as many top commenter’s list as possible. The reason is that if a blog has a top commenter’s list then it is always checked out by the other visitors. It really helps people in knowing your brand. Apart from the recognition you will also get residual traffic and SEO benefits as all top commenter’s widgets are dofollow.

How Many Guest Posts Have You Done?

It is very important to leave a foot print of your blog on other more popular blogs. It is because they have a huge readers and subscribers base. A guest post is always given special attention by readers because they know it will be different from the general pattern of the original posts. Also when readers comment on your guest post, you get an opportunity to interact with them. This helps you socialize much more deeply.

Do You Reply To Your Visitor Comments?

A social blog is a very active one! All reader comments are replied back. The blogger provides satisfactory answers to all the questions which are asked. Then the most important part of commenting, the blogger heads over to the commenter’s blog and makes a comment on his blog. This way you are ensuring that you get that visitor to visit you again and also make a good impression about your blog.

Re-Tweet Other Blogger’s Articles

This is another sign of a very social blog. It is really appreciated by many bloggers when you retweet their posts to your followers. So the best advice will be keep on sharing and retweeting interesting stuff from other blogs in your niche with your followers and Fans on Twitter and Facebook.

Conclusion

Being social helps a blog a lot. I would suggest using the above tips to make your blog even more popular and social. So get on to other blogs commentators list, write guest posts on other blogs, retweet and share posts from your favorite blogs and don’t forget to reply to comments coming on your blog. How social you and your blog is, share in the comments section below.

  1. Great article, and some very solid advice. I’d have mentioned making it easy for people to promote your blog using social media, as you’re currently doing with the parade of buttons below your post.

I suppose showing rather than telling is the order of the day!

    1. Being social has really helped me. I made lots of efforts in this direction in the last three to four months time like writing lots of guest posts, sharing favorite stories on social fronts and being on the top commnetors list on my favorite blogs. All this has helped to drive lots of traffic, authority and backlinks for my blog.

  2. Being active on your blog and others is very important to be recognized within the community.

Just as you mentioned, I’d like to expand on these topics:

    1. Top Commentors

Top commentors are a great way to show that you’re very active on other people’s blogs. Yes, the benefits of gaining a dofollow link (if applicable) is nice but being in front of others is the greater payoff. When others know you’re active, they’ll come to know you better.

    2. Guest Post

We all know the benefits of contributing great guest posts but don’t forget you also gain great backend. It’s great to be social with other blog’s readers, the relationship you can build with other bloggers is priceless. When you become “in” with other bloggers, you’re both more likely to help each other with mutual goals.

    3. Visitor Comments

Nothing is more detering than having your comment approved or commented on days later. You’re commenting on a blog NOW, you expect to gain some kind of response to keep the conversation alive. If blog owners aren’t answering comments within a time limit, people will become disinterested.

    4. Retweeting

There’s nothing greater than showing your “thanks” by helping to promote other blogs. Other bloggers aren’t your competition, they’re your peers. You should be selfless and help each other, it all works out in the end.

I try to always be active on my blog and others. Although I’ve just started my new blog (Murlu), I’m trying to show that I care with insightful comments, promoting other blogs and guest posting.

Be active, be social and your blog readers will love you.

  3. I agree that having a social blog is very important, we can attract more visitors by being social.
I already test the top commentators lists on some blogs, very useful, it gives many backlinks! However, i have never try guest posts yet but i will try it soon.

    1. I have been doing guest posting very actively and that really pays for me. few months backs, I was not getting any guest post request on my blog. but now I used to get 5-6 guest post requests on my blog every month. And with guest blogging, I get in touch with lots of tp bloggers in my niche. So guest blogging is multi-purpose.

  4. Great article. It’s much more fun to participate on a blog with a human approach. So many blogs forget about the fact that they are talking to other people.
