Cron jobs is a scheduling program in Unix that can execute your script periodically. Most bloggers need cron jobs to back up their blogs, send emails, RSS feeds, or even auto blogging with WP-o-Matic.
Unfortunately, most web hosting providers disabled or limited cron jobs feature in their hosting services. Some will suspend users accounts if they used too much server resources for cron jobs
The solution for this problem is using online cron jobs services, and recommended one is SetCronJob.
Currently they offer Two type of Options:
- Free account – By having a free account you can create 5 cron jobs, running every 10 minutes, enough to automate a blog or website.
- Premium Account – You can also pay a small amount (from $5 – $20 for one year) to create up to 40 cron jobs very 5 minutes.
The most excellent thing is their simple control panel: it’s very easy to use!
You can create, edit, save or delete a cron job with just one click!
Right now, you can go to SetCronJob, spend one minute to register a free account, and start creating your cron jobs for FREE!

Yup, Matt. That’s the power of Free account. You can check the free service before going for the premium. It helps a lot.
I never do cron jobs because i don’t know how it works and use it, thanks for explaining some information about cron jobs.
Good to see that you got some information about cron jobs.
Looks like another winning option for bloggers, although the term “cron job” makes me giggle…..sounds like something dirty…..LOL 😉
Nope Cron job isn’t any kind of dirty thing. It’s just most of the bloggers don’t know about it but still are using it silently.
Like many wordpress users backup their blog by using any automatic database backup plugin. That plugin actually is using cron job functionality of scheduling your backups.
Thanks for the link to SetCronJob, I have cron jobs currently running on my site for backups (this is what I’m aware of). I doubt I would pay for this service, but might sign up for the free service and give it a bash as I don’t really have many jobs at this stage.
Good that they offer a free service otherwise you could waste your money if you don’t really like it.
