5 Popular Twitter Plugins which you can include in your blog

With twitter becoming popular day by day, it has now become a great way to attract readers from twitter for your blog and grow the community. There are many twitter plugins out there and thus I am listing here 5 Popular Twitter Plugins which you can install in your blog that could help in increasing the fun for your commentators, readers and twitter followers.

1. WP-Twittip ID

WP-Twittip ID plugin adds an extra field in the comments section of your blog so your readers can enter their twitter profile usernames. The plugin then shows the twitter username and links to his/her twitter profile. I installed this plugin in the recent update of making commenting on this blog better. Till now it has been a great thing for my readers.

2. Tweetmeme

TweetMeme Plugin enables your readers to tweet your article, if they like it, to their twitter profile. The plugin provides a shorten link and a Title of the article. With every unique tweet the counter goes up by 1 point. An alternative of this plugin is TwitThis which is also popular amongst many bloggers. This has proved a very good way to increase blog readership.

3. Twittar

This simple little plugin – Twittar from SmashingMagazine, adds the Twitter avatars in the comment section by matching the email address to the user’s Twitter email address. Suppose if that user still doesn’t uses twitter then it will load a gravatar of that email ID and if he doesn’t have a gravatar also, then it will load a default image. Installing this plugin will have a better appearance in the comment section with all the commentators with their own image in his comments.

4. Tweetbacks

The Tweetbacks imports the tweets/conversation about an article on your blog and enters it in the comments section. You can display among other comments of the article or show them separately. So, when someone tweets with the URL of your blog or any of your items, it will automatically be included in the comments section of your blog.

5. Twitter Tools

Twitter Tools plugin integrates your twitter account with your wordpress blog. With this you can show weekly collection of your tweets and publish them automatically as a article on the blog. Plus you can also show latest tweets from your twitter account in the sidebar through the widget.

I hope these 5 plugins for Twitter will help you to incorporate Twitter into your blog. Doing this will make your blog more interactive and more attractive for other Twitter users and may result in more comments from users of Twitter and you could see an increase in the number of followers and readers.

So What are your favorite one amongst these? Also do tell me if you use any other popular twitter plugin on your blog.

  2. I had been using Tweetmeme for quite some time, I realize when you post, their system seems to take about a few hours before it ping your post, I’m not sure you also got this or not, but usually it shows a question mark and after a few hours it will be able to tweet… Kind strange…

    1. Ya this problem also happened with me. Then I created a trick by myself. Actually I started using, the original wordpress plugin from tweetmeme plus also placed the button code in my template.

So this solved my problem i.e use wordpress plugin rather than using only button code solves the problem according to me.

  3. Thanks for the List Typhoon! As we are still getting our feet wet with Twitter… these are definitely some tools we will check out. We were using Twittley on our site for a while, but it started having some issues with the button not appearing on the site. We are thinking about giving TweetMeMe a try.

    1. Ya I have seen the error of twittley not appearing many times and showing a Heading(1) size “Internal Server Error” message. That’s why I use tweetmeme as that problem doesn’t occurs in this.
