This is a guest post by Felix Albutra who is Blogging For Profit.
There many blog authors arguing which blogging method is king. Some says Content is the King and some says Marketing is the King.
For you, which is king? This post will express my opinion regarding these two successful blogging techniques.
Is Content a King?
As many other successful blogging gurus teach you, Content is the king of all methods to be successful on blogging business or internet marketing. Creating quality contents to your blog is indeed one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog. Meaning, content is considered as the flesh of your blog while traffic is its blood. Having these two elements, would let stay alive on the blogosphere (the world of blogs).
Is having content on your blog enough to be successful in online business? There are many great articles I had read but they are not gaining much traffic. In other words, those quality articles didn’t receive good rewards from search engine to earn free traffic. In which the author end up to discouragement and abandoned their blogs because they haven’t earn money from it if they were willing to. It’s sad to say. Would you let it happen to you? I guest you won’t. What should you do?
Huh! Marketing is the King?
A blogger had already revealed his secret why marketing is the king and not the content. The first time I had read this article, I was convinced that I think he is right from the examples he had shown. But then I realized that marketing blogs without quality contents is like selling a rotten meat in the market. Who would try to revisit your blog if you don’t have the quality information which your readers need?
Content vs. Marketing
Upon balancing these two great strategies, I figured out that these two strategies must have in your blogging and internet marketing activities in order to succeed online. After creating quality content for your blog, you must apply the marketing processes you knew to gather readers or viewers all you have to do is to market that content to gather readers or viewers on it.
It’s not enough that you all have the quality contents on your blog where no one is reading or viewing on it, right? Because it only consumes your efforts and time without receiving profit reward from it.
You Decide! Which is King?

Hahaha. Great job my friend. Is this the counter blow for this article http://www.carlocab.com/i-have-a-secret-content-is-not-king/
Well i say, content is the king while marketing is the queen. Basically, content is what makes your blog market. Marketing is useless if the one you market has no value. You may get someone to look into a product but you wont make a sale if the product you’re promoting has no value. This is what we bloggers must think of. We might not give the best, we might not write the best articles but at least, we create something that has a value. This way, our marketing efforts won’t put to waste. I must say that content and marketing should go together to come up with good results.
When i came up with an article telling that “content is not king” I wonder how the author was thinking. I know i don’t have the right to question his ideas. Infact i respect it, but i can’t help but think. did he forgotten how he came to the point of his success? I’m pretty sure he won’t reach what he have right now if not because of the good content. He even got rewarded by google because of it. Well, maybe he is telling it now because he’s successful already. For me, content is king and marketing is queen. So i will vote for “both are equally important”.

My friend, I think it is not a counter blow from the article that Carl Ocab made. I just give my opinion. In other side, carl also give us a useful hint and tips to be successful in blogging business and earn money at home.
.-= Felix Albutra – SighNetDollars´s last blog ..How other bloggers earned most on google adsense? =-.
Carl got success not only because of his content but also because he optimized his blog well for his keyword. He had said many times that he is not any kind of blogging guru which reflects from that post which he published.
More content means more keywords noticed by Google spider. It will bring valuable traffic which we can convert into cash through advertising or affiliation programs.
Thank you Sushant for accepting my guest post. I consider what Home Affiliate is thinking that Content is the King and Marketing is the Queen. Yeah I think you are right because the KING and the QUEEN must go together.

I feel, content is prince…content will only make us survive in the future.. ..but marketing is the king in the present days…i market a lot ….many blogs have my similar content i have word by word…they hardly get 10 to 20 pageviews…but i get more than 1500 page views with more than 300 E-mail subscribers..
But marketting a blog withoutt good content make the user to visit one or two times…it is the content which regains the visitors in the blog…..

My point of marketing is different,,,it may not suit you…since i gave answers of a quiz site..i told abt my blog in their site itself…

Hi vinoth,
What you mean is the peeling of the page on the right side of my page?
It was a scripted codes provided by the x10hosting.com where I applied as an affiliate.
.-= Felix Albutra – SighNetDollars´s last blog ..Do you blog for people or for google? =-.
ya…CAn u give me that code..Is there a way i can modify that code and place any image and peel of like that….
.-= vinoth´s last blog ..COTD – Toon City =-.
Felix, if ur using wordpress then u can use peel plugin that provides that kind of page peel ads.
Of course. I once read in pro bloggers, submitting to blog directories should be the first step when ur blog is new and u want it to be indexed by google.
Hello Vinoth, I respect your opinion. But like what i said, without good content, marketing will just remain as marketing. Eventually, it will only get someone to look into a product, blog, or whatever it is but if they found out that there’s nothing good in it. They will run away and you will lose lots of potential sales. Which is why Content is king and marketing is queen. They should go along together. And by the way, you mean there are other blogs with similar content with your blog and word for word? I think that’s unallowable by google? coz that is a form of duplication. I think you should report those copyright violators. 🙂 Well, on the other hand, things happen differently. Lets just give our best. Goodluck and more power

I gave answers to quizzes for a website in my blog…..so others also give the answers….so i can’t complaint them…they may be finding out themselves..atleast i am happy that they don”t know marketing…he he he……
.-= vinoth´s last blog ..Don’t u think..it is unfair?? =-.
Without Marketing we cant be get noticed. Only by marketing we are known. But by effective marketing we are familiar. May be you fall under the third one.
Anyway, choosing the wrong marketing technique is also waste. For example is market our technology blog on a finance forum.
.-= akira07´s last blog ..Make or Break – Website Review =-.
hey i think both are equal content and marketing, because without content there is no one to visit your site and no search engine send you good trafic, but if you write good content and then after marketing comes

Thanks for commenting and sharing your opinion..Have you voted in this poll?
I just know about polling in this day. Well, already vote. And i’m happy, mostly people already aware about the importance of both of them. But there is also a supporter of marketing/content only, and the vote of marketing is king/content is king is balance.
.-= akira07´s last blog ..Make or Break – Website Review =-.
Agreed. so you mean content > marketing. i give you thumbs up. content is always better than marketing but both are important.
You got it right, senthil. No one can stand alone. Even we’re know if our content is great, then marketing activity will done automatically (viral marketing).
.-= akira07´s last blog ..Make or Break – Website Review =-.
for me content is above all in a blog….marketing can fetch you visitors for first time but its your content that force them to come again and again…they believe you have something for you in store and so they visit you

So you are saying Having only good content won’t require the need of marketing it?
I think he is saying that a good content can market it self 🙂 Basically, online and offline. In the real world. What really market is something that has a value. Because when you have something good, you’re customers will even be the one to market your products to other like friends, family and relatives etc. You will get recommendations 🙂

I always believe that content could only go so far….Imagine Steven Spielberg. One of the best directors of all time, right? Imagine he’s making a new movie as powerful as Schindler’s List and as exciting as Jurassic Park.(How he pulled that off, I don’t know ^-^). But, say, since he’s already so famous, he won’t do any marketing or buzz around this new movie. So NO TRAILER, No Magazine Previews, No Interviews, No NOTHING. The movie is then announced exactly on the day of its release. Do you think that movie, created by the famous Steven Spielberg, would sell well?
NO.
Same logic could be applied to blog posts. Even famous bloggers, like Darren Rowse or John Chow, still need to market their posts (with Twitter, Digg, etc). But of course they don’t have to spend as much efforts.

Well there are many blogger who has good content but they are not able to produce good traffic. Eventually, they stop blogging due to frustration. I will consider marketing as more important part of blogging.
A question for you..Why both Content and Marketing are not equally important according to you?
.-= Typhoon´s last blog ..Content vs Marketing! Which is King? =-.
ya…ricky.i truly agree with u……everybody thinks that if they start a blog and leave it …so they earn loads of money…then they realize that ,they can’t earn money….stop posting it…most of them…
They never know there are lot of blogs out there…they have to offer something that they don’t get in other sites…some uniqueness..
Nah, definitely marketing is more important. You could have the best content in the world, but if you don’t market it properly, nobody gonna read or knows about it. You could argue that Titanic is not that good of a movie, but because of clever marketing (maybe good choice of actors as well), they are the best-selling movie of all time. (earning a staggering $ 1.8 billion)
Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3 both have one of the best opening weekend gross in the world. But are they good? Most people would agree both are the worst entries in their respective series. What about Oscar winning movies, like maybe Shawsank redemption or Godfather? Are they selling well? They are doing ok, but they are not making even half of what the other blockbuster movies are making.
You could apply the same scenario for blogs. You need a good marketing strategy. Content is important but not as important as many bloggers claiming them to be. I would give a ratio of 65:35 to marketing vs content.
.-= Andi | Web Marketer Depot´s last blog ..How I Write SEO Optimize Article in 45 Minutes or Less =-.
Hello Andi, I think both is important. Lets say you are the best marketer in the world. You know how to market a product very well. But do you think you will make a sale if the one you market has no value? I think not. People now adays are pretty smart. They don’t buy just because of the promotion no matter how great it was. They look more into the value of the product. Lets not take the word “King” literally, lets take it as something that has a value. That has a worth. Something that can touch and enhance other peoples lives.
As to the examples you shared, Come on, Titanic is a good movie. Yeah, it might not be the best movie ever but it is still an interesting and a must seen movie. Which is why it clicks. As to shrek, its one of the good 3d movies ever made in the 3d scene plus it has an interesting, funny story so basically it has something that will market. I tell you, the content/product will be the one to market itself if it has a value. No more no less. 🙂
.-= Home affiliate´s last blog ..71 HandPicked High Pagerank Blog Directories =-.
Both are important, but not on the same level. That’s why I give ratio of 65:35. I don’t mean creating a no-value content. I’m talking about “decent” content + great marketing is better than “great” content + “decent” marketing.

Well said, being heard from a long time Internet marketer. There’s nothing more to argue. 🙂 Lets just give our best on both. Creating good content and marketing.
.-= Home affiliate´s last blog ..Do you blog for people or for google? =-.
yup i think content as well as marketing is imp.. in todays time to get the visitors nd keep them stick to our blog is very imp for the bloggers…
.-= lucifer´s last blog ..Hey i Just Got 1.91$ =-.
I think both are equally important but still it also depends on the article TYPE. A News or already on demand article need less marketing than one which is not. Also it depends on the instant accessibility of the article when published.
