Blogging is one of the best ways to make money online. The problem most people face is getting traffic to your blog and making money out of that traffic. Almost everyone knows what a blog is but very few people know how to make most out their blogs.

If you’re thinking of starting a blog, or if you already have one and just want to increase your traffic this article will show you how to make your blog popular and get traffic to it.

These tips are valid for any blogger whether they are newbies or blogging experts. Writing quality content is the way to go and almost the only way to become a popular blogger. Make sure to follow these tips and you will be a better blogger a few weeks from now!

Here are a few simple but important tips for getting traffic to your blog:

1. Interesting Topic

This is probably one of most important aspect of successful blogging. If your blog is about an interesting topic or about a topic which is searched a lot by many people the chances of having a successful blog are high. It would be much easier to get traffic to your blog if you chose the right topic.

2. Customize Your Blog Design

Everyone is attracted to a well designed and professional looking blog. For many people even if you put up a great content but your blog looks boring they are unlikely to return or spend much time in your blog. A professional looking blog can help you get traffic to your blog. You don’t need to spend a lot of money for this and can get custom templates for reasonable prices for your blogs.

3. Blog Commenting

Blog commenting is one of best way to increase your blog ranking and improve its performance. You just need to find blogs related to the things you want to blog about and then make useful comments on them. This can be a powerful way of getting traffic to you blog. Try and say something interesting and make them want to come see what else you have to say and this will get more visitors to your blog.

4. Listen And Talk To Your Readers

Most blogs fail because the audience views and opinions are not listened to. If you are serious about getting traffic to your blog you should try to listen and talk to your audience. If a person has visited your blog and left a comment you should at least try and thank the person for that. If a person leaves a comment on your blog and the next time he visits he finds that there is no acknowledgement for it he may move away and never visit your blog again.

Interacting is really important because if you don’t interact with them, you won’t feel like a real blogger.

5. Post Frequently

Don’t just blog once a week and expect to get traffic to your blog. Try to post at least once in two days if not daily. This will help to keep your readers entertained and interested. So posting regularly is also a great way to drive traffic to your blog.Posting often has been proven to increase your blog’s RSS subscribers. It will have a positive impact on your blogging experience and more people will read your content and even share it.

Blogging is a great way to make money online but it can be only possible when you have sufficient traffic for your blog. You can use the above mentioned tactics to help boost traffic to your blog and increase your earnings.

  1. All these strategies work only for some blogs. for example, there are niches where blog commenting and posting frequently won’t help, because maybe there aren’t so many things to say about that topic. For a seo or marketing blog it’s easy, you can get on first page on dig or get a lot of stumbles and this would guarantee you some traffic… but for example if you have an affiliate site were you sell dresses, what can you do? most of your tips fail in this case

  2. I agree that having good interesting content is so important. Don’t write just to write something. Give your readers some valuable information and they’ll be back.

I have found that doing some series on my blog has been very helpful. Not only does it let me know what I”ll be writing about, but my readers can follow along and come back when they know a new post has been written.

  3. Fazal,

You have some great tips here. What happens with a lot of newer bloggers (like me:) is that they aren’t in the habit of writing consistently so there are times when they run out of ideas.

I haven’t always been 100% consistent but I’ve learned some tricks to never run out of topics, and you’re right, when you are blogging daily or every other day it causes a nice spike in traffic and does great things for your rank also. -Rob

  4. Hi Fazal,
Blogging is considered to be one of the best ways to make money online, but it is quite hard to pull it off especially if you have no experience whatsoever on every aspect – SEO, content quality, reader satisfaction, etc. I agree that frequent posting is a great way to keep readers interested and coming back from time to time.

  5. Hi Fazal,

It’s always first to consider that the blog would be interesting (no one would read it if its boring, right?), interesting should team up with interaction so people will keep coming back to hear from you or give some comments or suggestion about something. This tips would definitely produce more traffic. Nice article, very well said. Cheers!

  6. I think we need to add the social media effect to this. Today social media tools are one of the best tools to make anything popular. Be it blog or any business.

  7. Right on the money Fazal.

I have to say out of all traffic generation methods, blog commenting and forum posting has worked the best for me. And what I like about these kinds of method is that not only you get traffic in the short time, yo0u are also SEOing your blog to get more long term traffic from search engines.

  8. Hi Fazal, a really very interesting and informative article. I would like to expand your tips with mine.

    – 1-3 articles a week (“Content is King”), Google loves unique content and rewards them with a higher ranking in search engines.
    – Creative writing articles (unlike all others)
    – Leave comments in Themenrelavanten’s Blog (build expert status)
    – The own blog to connect with social networks (Viral Marketing)
    – Optimization for social bookmarking services
    – Will organize a parade or blog-carnival
    – Enter blog in blog directories and blog catalogs
    – Crosslinking with expert blogs
    – E-mail signature
    – Encourage other bloggers to link or tag
    – Expert interviews and more

These were some tips from me;-)

    I wish you continued success.

    many greetings
    Patrick

  9. I think one thing every blogger should expect (especially new bloggers) that it usually takes time to see favorable results. This is normal and every successful blog has gone through the ‘waiting game’.

  10. I would say that it is vital to build up a relationship with your readership. Relationship marketing and also blogging is key to creating a readership who come back time and time again… not only that but also a readership who trust the author. Once you have gained the trust of the reader it is much easier to sell them a product or service and convert them into serious £££. This sort of reader will make you a lot more money than the one of PPC type conversion.
