How I Virally Increase My Subscribers List With Facebook

As you know, Facebook is one of the biggest sources of traffic for bloggers and internet marketers these days, of course not forgetting the Giant Google…

One of the blog which I manage right now receives 100000+ (1,2,3,4,5 – count the zeros!) impressions every single month. And guess what? Of all this traffic, 55% traffic comes from Facebook and some 20-30% comes from other social networking sites.

We are able to bring such HUGE amount of traffic to that blog simply because of the VIRAL nature of Facebook (and a little bit of other social sites). We haven’t done anything extraordinary. All we have done is, added a ‘viral solution’ on the blog.

And it’s nothing but Facebook’s very own “LIKE button”. Yes, it’s that simple for us to increase the traffic on one of our blog. Our fans around the globe spread the blog content by LIKING it and you can easily imagine how it can help YOU too if you are able to do something like this with your squeeze pages without giving any trouble to the ‘possible’ subscriber.

I am a huge fan of viral solutions that helps me as a blogger and internet marketer. Almost a month ago, I stumbled upon a great viral Facebook application at warrior forum created by derrick vandyke that helped me to add viral element to my squeeze pages which generates more traffic coming towards my squeeze page (keep multiplying this) that ultimately increases my email subscribers list at a faster rate…WITHOUT annoying or taking any extra time of the visitor.

The Facebook application I am talking about is – OptinApp.

OptinApp is one of the most popular Facebook applications right now amongst internet marketers and blog owners. What this does that it lets visitor subscribe to your list/newsletter just by connecting their Facebook account to your customized Facebook application. The visitor no longer has to enter their name and email address like they have done always from ages. The application is connected to your autoresponder and submits the required information back to make that visitor properly subscribe to your list.

PLUS, it also adds a viral element during this process. This application posts a custom message created by you on the user’s wall as a status update. IMAGINE how viral it could prove when more and more people go through this…All this is done only after taking permission from the user so you are not risking anything here.

And don’t forget that the visitor here subscribes with their BEST email ID which they used for Facebook. And I think 99% of the people check that email account regularly. Don’t you? It’s a fact that people these days have more than one email account and most of them don’t give their best email ID which they check regularly. Well most of them…I personally have 5-6 email accounts which I use for various business purposes. With OptinApp collecting the subscriber’s email ID with which they registered on Facebook means you are going to get better open rates for your email campaigns with their best email ID in the hand.

OptinApp now supports 24 autoresponders and which covers almost all the major one’s out there. You can easily personalize the text that you want to be posted as a status update on the user’s wall after getting the permission. You can even select your own thumbnail image, the link you want to add to that status update and the description for that link like shown in the image above. The more personalized and realistic it seems the better…

The great thing is that you can promote your OptinApp generated link anywhere since it’s just a plain url directing the visitor towards your Facebook application; like you can promote it on YouTube videos (Can you put a subscription form on YouTube?), through blog comments (can you add your subscription form in blog comments?), through guest blogging (can you put your subscription form while guest blogging?), directly in solo ads/ad swaps, in your forum posts (can you put a subscription box on any forum? you will get banned!) etc.

Just IMAGINE how helpful and time-saving this Facebook app is for every list builder. You can even embed it on your fan pages like I have done or anywhere else where it is possible and allowed.

Overall, I am loving OptinApp after making use of it from past one month and would recommend you to have its license (for just $37) if you want to increase your list size virally and want to get better open rates/outcome with your email campaigns.

  1. That is interesting. I use WP subscribers plugin and it has the FB connect feature as well. When you ask people to simply connect through FB instead of asking them to enter their name and email, they’ll be more than happy and yield immediately.

I wonder if this plugin is any different?

    Jane.

    1. OptinApp is basically a web based thing. You just need to login to your dashboard and then generate the custom optin link which you can then promote.

OptinApp is a lot easier to use. People who can’t go a little technical will have a little problem with WPSubscribers. It hardly takes 2 minutes to setup a new optinapp powered link because you just have to fill in the boxes. And from a quick look it seems like you could assign a custom message to be posted on user’s wall but you can’t add a link with custom title, thumbnail image and description like shown in the image in this post.

Plus you get free squeeze templates and I also got developers license without any cost because I was one of the early few who picked it.

  2. Hey that looks a good tool, iv never really gotton into the FB as of yet but i will have to get it going as they have more traffic than the big g man at the time of writing.

  3. Cool app. We need to catch up with facebook fast as it is possibly the future of internet marketing. Just having a fan page is not enough. These types of plugins and apps adds a lot of possibility that our product (or a promoted one) will go viral and will increase the digits in our affliate network accounts.

    1. Yeah, this is a cool application but… As soon as many people start using it I believe that facebook users won’t like that. They are on facebook to make friends but not for reading adverticements.. You have to be a real pro to get people interested in what you offer. Just be creative and unique!

  4. Not sure now, but I think I read somewhere it doesn’t comply with one of Aweber’s terms or something. Since I use Aweber, I just made my decision right there that it’s not my thing.

Cool app anyway. I was fascinated by it before I learned I can’t use it with Aweber.

P.S. I hope I’m even right, my memory of what I’m saying is a little stale now.

    1. I just had a look inside the dashboard of OptinApp to see how it works for aweber.

Since Aweber offers “subscribe through email” feature, you can use it for OptInApp. If you select Aweber, you can choose to enter an autoresponder email (i.e. listname@aweber) or a List Name. The email method complies with Aweber’s terms of service. But it also requires that confirmed optin is turned ‘ON’. Secondly, hundreds of aweber users are using it so I don’t think they are violating any terms right now.

      1. I was able to confirm what you said on Warrior Forum. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers-forum/371670-over-3-100-sold-facebook-optin-app-invisibly-squeeze-them-post-fb-walls-developer-license.html

“Is this against Awebers Terms of Service?
No. Aweber and GetResponse do not allow the Silent Post method. You should use the ‘Subscribe Via Email’ method. The Silent Post Method is intended for autoresponder services that do not support the ‘Subscribe Via Email’ method (i.e. listname@aweber.com).”

  5. Nice, and an app I did not know about. FB is the 2nd highest traffic source for me, after Google. This sounds like a great tool to explode that traffic.

  6. Hi Sushant,
This is app great no doubt. I will be trying this one out and hopefully it can increase the visitors on my site exponentially. Thanks!

  7. Hi Sushant,

I saw this on warriors, and became really interested a few days ago when I noticed how you were using it on your clickbank image on this blog. Funny you blogged about it yesterday… something must be telling me to get this….

One thing I am confused on… if I use it with aweber does it add the email to my normal aweber list?

    Thanks,
    Evan

    1. Since I am not an aweber user, I can’t easily answer this question but anyways to help you out I will ask them directly (the OptinApp support team). Hope to get an answer soon… 🙂

  8. I have learned a lot of tips and information about blogging and traffics… Yes, I believe that it can be helpful because there a lot of people who have facebook account and even other networking sites…

  9. I’ve seen this App being used everywhere these days. People just don’t like giving out their email addresses these days. A great solution is to go through Facebook. Thanks for the read!
